  4.     Screensavers are nearly old as computers.  Initially, they were
  5.     meant keep images from being 'burned' onto the monitor screen.
  6.     This would ruin the monitor.  Today, technology has advanced
  7.     enough that images no longer get burnt on your monitor.  However,
  8.     people enjoy using screensavers because they look cool and
  9.     entertain visitors.

  12.     <application>Gnome</application> uses either the
  13.     <application>xscreensaver</application> or the <application>gnome-screensaver</application>
  14.     programs to display
  15.     screensavers.  By default, <application>Gnome</application> comes
  16.     with dozens of screensavers.  These can all be configured in the
  17.     <application>Settings Capplet</application> in <application>Gnome
  18.     Control Center</application>.
